Who would have thought Valentino would look so well with H&M? Sometimes we’re so immersed in the world of luxurious and expensive top brands that we forget how good and classy we can still look without maxing up our credit cards, or draining our bank accounts. But what if we come down to earth while still keeping a little bit of heaven? Let me tell about something I like to call “the eclectic mix.”
It’s been said that fashion comes and goes, but style remains timeless. This may sound vague and generic, but it can encourage you to play around with the garments in your wardrobe. It doesn’t matter how expensive or cheap they were, or if you got them fresh off the runway, or even if they have been sitting there for years. A true fashion lover knows what’s “in” and “out,” and he isn’t afraid to mix vintage pieces with modern basics, all while adding a touch of uniqueness and personality, of course. Remember, it’s all about your own style.
With that in mind, I came up with an eclectic look by mixing a vintage white Valentino jacket (US $1,200) with an H&M crew-neck basic tee shirt (US $5.95). Being the cream-color-lover that I am, I chose to match them up with beige Banana Republic pants (US $59.99). You might have noticed the big difference in price and brands, and how I incorporated some color into my outfit. I wanted to keep it all coordinated, and by taking into consideration the burgundy stripes in my tee, I added a dark brown leather belt and shoes, which discreetly balanced it all out and turned it into a fun, casual, yet elegant ensemble.
Of course, an outfit always comes with an attitude, and sometimes wearing no-show socks, or even no socks at all, and wearing blazers as capes and rolling up my pants, all while showing off my signature “Leo Necklace,” do the trick for me.
Now it’s your turn. I’m serious, I encourage you to go to your closet, and try this new take on mix and matching! Not only does it help ease your expenses, but it also helps you come up with totally new and fresh outfits. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
